Haggai Carmon

Haggai Carmon (born 1944 in Tel Aviv) - an Israeli-American attorney, intelligence operative, and author known for his Dan Gordon espionage thriller series. For 20 years (1985–2005), Carmon performed sensitive undercover intelligence-gathering for various U.S. federal agencies in over 30 countries, specializing in money laundering and asset recovery. He is a partner at the international law firm Carmon & Carmon, with offices in New York and Tel Aviv. He served as counsel for the U.S. Department of Justice in Israeli civil litigation from 1985 to 2016. His books focus to a great extent on the conflict with Iran and are written originally in English. Summaries:

Triple Identity (2005). his debut novel, introduces Dan Gordon, a fictionalized version of the author, who investigates international fraud and nuclear proliferation involving Iran. A seemingly routine money laundering case for the U.S. Department of Justice quickly escalates into a complex international conspiracy involving a failed California bank, a missing $90 million, and Iran’s efforts to acquire nuclear materials. The Red Syndrome (2006): Gordon’s investigation of Russian mob money transfers is assigned to the CIA, leading to the discovery of a plot by an Iranian-backed Islamic fundamentalist group and the Belarus mafia to launch a devastating biological weapon attack in the United States. The race against time involves murder, kidnapping, and high-stakes chases across multiple continents.

The Chameleon Conspiracy (2009): Gordon is determined to capture the “Chameleon,” a master criminal, con man, and sleeper agent who has eluded international law enforcement for two decades. The investigation leads Gordon undercover to Iran, where he uncovers a conspiracy that could upset the global balance of power.

Triangle of Deception (2009): Gordon goes undercover in a joint CIA/Mossad mission to infiltrate a Lebanese network in Paraguay that is funding Hezbollah. He uncovers a wider conspiracy, which lands him in a Romanian prison with no easy way out, forcing him to maneuver in a world where allegiances constantly shift.

Defection Games (2012): Gordon is assigned a dangerous mission to extract a defecting general with critical intelligence from behind enemy lines in Iran. Operating in hostile territory, he realizes he is being manipulated by others and must question his mission, target, and even his superiors to survive. 

By Deceit: An Intelligence Thriller: This novel features Daniella Gordon (Dan Gordon’s daughter or sister? Some ambiguity), a cynical and highly skilled Mossad-CIA operative with Machiavellian instincts. Embedded in New York under deep cover as a disillusioned former agent, she is recruited by an elite Iranian training unit. Daniella manipulates her way through the Iranian spy network, using a covert ATM-based communication system to feed intelligence to the Mossad, while simultaneously hunting for a high-level mole within her own agency.

Titan Rain: CIA vs. Iranian Mole: This thriller centers on the high-stakes shadow war between the CIA and Iranian intelligence. The plot focuses on the detection and neutralization of a deep-cover Iranian mole embedded within Western intelligence frameworks. Like Carmon’s other works, it utilizes his professional background in asset recovery and global intelligence to depict realistic espionage tactics.

The Russian Dossier: Following the discovery of a dead SVR courier in Vienna, a secret dossier codenamed “Volkov” surfaces, exposing a network of double agents buried deep within Western institutions. The encrypted data on the courier’s phone leads to Daniella Gordon, who must race across Europe to recover the truth while evading both Russian operatives and internal threats.
